Genpachi is a captain in the imperial military police and carries the Integrity bead. Three years ago, he and his foster brother Kobungo were stationed in the north on assignment—and both came back fundamentally different. These days, Genpachi can transform into a demon that hunts other supernatural beings.
He and Nui, Kobungo's sister, used to be involved romantically. He gets weirdly fixated on Shino sometimes, though what really sets him apart is how clearly he grasps the weight of Shino and Sousuke's situation. That kind of understanding makes him seem more mature than a lot of people around him.
Women tend to gravitate toward Genpachi regardless of age, but he doesn't appear interested in any of them. His household staff—including his longtime butler—seem genuinely attached to him, which probably says something about how he actually treats people.
