Mard Geer is an Etherious—a demon spawned from the Book of Zeref—and runs Tartarus as its Guild Master. He's earned the title "Underworld King" through his brutal leadership of one of the Balam Alliance's most powerful dark guilds.
Like all Tartarus members, Mard Geer wields a Curse in place of standard magic. His is the Thorn Curse, which lets him conjure and control massive thorns through hand gestures alone. These aren't just for show either—the thorns are vicious enough to strangle opponents and tear through flesh. They can pierce clean through a target's body and work just as well as a defensive barrier around him. Fans often note the sheer versatility of the ability, which makes him a threat from both an offensive and defensive standpoint.
