Shinya shows up in Hanging Blimp, where things get pretty dark for him. He'd been dating Terumi, but after she dies, her fanclub turns on him—they harass him relentlessly, convinced he's responsible or somehow to blame. What makes it worse is that Shinya starts seeing Terumi's disembodied head, and he becomes convinced she's trying to reach out to him from beyond death. It's unclear whether these visions are real or if grief and guilt are driving him to imagine them, but either way, he can't shake the feeling that she's calling to him.
