Bocchi is a first-year student defined by her crippling social anxiety. She describes herself as an "in-kya"—basically a shut-in outcast—and spent most of her time before high school isolated and friendless. Her dream of becoming popular and joining a band eventually pushed her to pick up the guitar, despite having no real experience or confidence.
She ended up as the lead guitarist for Kessoku Band, which is where things get interesting. Her technical skill is genuinely impressive, but she's so anxious in social situations—and especially on stage—that she can barely let that talent show. There's a constant disconnect between how good she actually is and how terrified she is to demonstrate it.
One of her quirks is starting almost every sentence with "Ah," which has become pretty iconic to her character.
