Hit is an ancient assassin from Universe 6, over 1000 years old and a member of a race whose origins remain mysterious. He's best known for his signature technique, Time Skip, which lets him literally skip through moments in time during combat.
Hit lived a secluded life as a professional hitman until Vados recruited him for the Tournament of Destroyers, offering him an inter-universal travel cube as payment. It was an unusual move for someone so withdrawn. During the tournament, Hit mostly sat with his eyes closed, speaking barely at all—he was there for the cube, nothing more. He eliminated Frost and Vegeta with cold efficiency, but his real test came against Goku.
That fight changed everything for Hit. Goku's constant chatter and playfulness threw him off at first, and Hit actually started enjoying himself as Goku gradually figured out how Time Skip worked. For possibly the first time in centuries, Hit faced a genuine challenge. The match pushed him harder than any fight before it, and by the end, he'd developed real respect for Goku. When Goku forfeited due to exhaustion from Kaioken x20, Hit realized something had shifted in him—he wanted to fight Goku again, and he wanted to be stronger.
So when his final opponent turned out to be the clearly fraudulent Monaka, Hit threw the match. The cube didn't matter anymore. He let Goku's team win because of his newfound respect for a single person.
Hit got his rematch eventually. Someone anonymously hired him to assassinate Goku in Universe 7, and Hit was genuinely excited about it. After they fought, Goku revealed he'd placed the order himself as a way to test Hit again. Hit found this hilarious and the two became something like friends, their rivalry cementing into genuine friendship.
By the Tournament of Power, Hit had become something different—a leader for Universe 6's team. He took on Jiren directly to buy his teammates time against weaker opponents, showing real concern for others rather than just himself. The selfish, silent assassin had become someone who'd sacrifice for his team.
