Sukui is a medical-nin from Konohagakure who served in the Logistical Support and Medical Division during the Fourth Shinobi World War. When a scroll containing the sealed bodies of fallen shinobi—particularly those with kekkei genkai and other rare abilities—was stolen by a reincarnated Hayate Gekko and two accomplices, Sukui assembled a retrieval team. She brought together Yokaze, Sakura Haruno, Iou, and Yugao Uzuki for the mission, recognizing that Yugao's unique skills were essential despite the awkward position it put her in. Sukui apologized for the difficult spot but made clear the team needed her.
As the war's major battlefields wound down, Sakura and Shizune peeled off to support Naruto and B in their fight, leaving Sukui and the rest of the unit to handle the mounting casualties pouring in.
