Wangnan is one of the main characters introduced early in Part II, though the story initially zeroes in on him before broadening back out to the rest of the cast. He's been stuck on the 20th Floor, repeatedly failing the same advancement test, which left him drowning in debt to loan sharks. Desperate to move forward, he became willing to use whatever underhanded tactics he could—but his final chance test revealed his actual nature: he's capable of real sympathy and forgiveness, especially toward others just trying to survive by cheating like he was.
His dream is to become King of the Tower.
He's blond with distinctive red protrusions on the back of his head and wears a red ring bearing Zahard's symbol—the same kind of ring worn by Karaka, a FUG slayer. He doesn't have any flashy shinsu abilities or martial arts training, which makes what happened in the Workshop battle particularly strange: Beta ran him through the heart, but he survived the fatal wound completely and recovered fully. That left a few people genuinely suspicious about what Wangnan actually is.
