Ruri comes from a legendary bloodline—she's the descendant of the original Hero—but she never inherited the powers everyone expected her to have. Instead of becoming the prodigy her family name promised, she ended up the opposite: a failure in the eyes of her peers, who didn't hesitate to let her know it.
Growing up under that shadow was rough. While her parents tried to convince her that carving her own path was enough, Ruri couldn't shake the feeling that she'd let everyone down. The constant bullying didn't help. Her self-esteem took a real hit, and for a long time she struggled to see past the disappointment of not being what she was born to be.
