Jigen started out as a low-ranking monk before his life took a dark turn. He became the vessel for Isshiki Ootsutsuki, one of the most powerful beings in existence. Over time, Isshiki didn't just inhabit Jigen's body—he completely consumed it, taking over entirely. By the end, there was basically nothing left of who Jigen used to be. He's remembered more as a vessel or puppet than as a person in his own right, which is pretty much the whole point: Jigen stopped existing the moment Isshiki fully took control.
