Runo
Runo's a tomboy who'd rather play Bakugan with the guys than do anything else. At twelve years old, she's definitely not your typical pre-teen—competitive, stubborn, and unapologetically herself. She's known for being a sore loser and battling inconsistently, and she's not always aware when she's getting in her teammates' way during matches. She uses light attributes in battle and has a serious crush on Dan, though she'd die before admitting it. The fact that she gets jealous of Julie probably didn't help keep that secret. What really gets under her skin is when people dismiss her skills just because she's a girl.
Her closest bond is with her Guardian Bakugan, Haos Tigrerra, who's loyal and powerful. Tigrerra eventually evolves into Blade Tigrerra. Runo and Dan are constant rivals who argue all the time, though they clearly care about each other more than they let on. She lost a bunch of her Bakugan to the Doom Dimension and nearly quit the game over it, but ultimately decided to keep going. She made it to 4th in the rankings.
When she's not brawling, Runo helps run her family's restaurant. She got noticeably jealous when Alice visited and started helping out—suddenly boys were everywhere. Ironically, when Runo came back from the Doom Dimension, a whole group of guys showed up to see her.
In New Vestroia, things got complicated. Dan ditched her and Julie to go to New Vestroia with Drago, and she got increasingly frustrated as days went by with no word from him. By episode 10, she couldn't take it anymore and headed to Moscow with Julie to find Alice and access the gate herself. The portal transfer went wrong though, leaving her stranded in New Vestroia without a physical body. When she finally reconnected with Dan and the others, Spectra kidnapped her just to lure Dan in—a move that backfired spectacularly. By the time they returned to Earth to fix the Dimensional Transporter, you could see how much Runo and Dan had matured; they barely fought at all, and when they did, they'd end up laughing about it.
She almost went back to New Vestroia with Dan in episode 19 but was forced to stay behind because she didn't have a Gauntlet for Dr. Michael's transporter. She was furious about it, though Dan promised he'd return. She eventually got Blade Tigrerra back by the end of season 1. When the Resistance got stranded on Earth later on, Baron teased her mercilessly about baby pictures hanging in her parents' restaurant—until she dragged him by the ear and threw him in the trash.
Runo appears briefly in Gundalian Invaders in a flashback during episode 7 and in a photograph alongside Dan and Julie in episode 22.
