Mai is Furuya Hiro's older sister and went to middle school with Asaki Himari. She's now a third-year at Imaichi East High School.
Back in middle school, Mai was a legitimate black-belt in karate, but she quit after some incident with a classmate. Despite having a pretty aggressive side, she's actually into knitting and sewing—which catches a lot of people off guard. Her favorite snake happens to be Kuromameya's Cruncy Crackers.
What's interesting about her is that underneath all the toughness, she's got a genuinely strong sense of justice. If you had to pick an animal that matches her personality, it'd be a tiger—fierce but with principles.
One important note: Do not call her "Onee-sama." Seriously. You will get hurt.
