Taruru started out as Tamama's apprentice and still refers to him as "master" or "senpai," though he's come a long way since those clumsy early days. He's a blue Keronian tadpole with an orange and yellow raindrop emblem—the mark of an inexperienced driver in Japan—but he matured unusually fast. By his appearance in volume 10, he'd already developed adult features instead of keeping his tadpole look.
He first showed up to check whether the rumors about the Keroro Platoon held any truth, mostly repeating what Tamama had told him about them. In the anime, he occasionally hangs around with his childhood friend Karara, and the two make a mischievous pair. But despite his clumsier past, Taruru became genuinely skilled during his time with the Garuru Platoon—skilled enough to actually outmatch Tamama in combat and capture both Momoka and Paul, along with Mois later on.
His winning streak didn't last, though. After Keroro motivated his platoon to fight back, Tamama got a power boost from a Super Rhinocerous Beetle and challenged Taruru to a rematch, taking him down decisively.
