Basilicum—just "Basil" to most—is Iemitsu's young protégé and one of his most talented fighters. Trained intensively since childhood, he wields the blue rain-attribute flame and can enter Hyper Dying Will Mode by taking special pills Iemitsu developed. He's unnervingly loyal to his boss, which becomes apparent when Iemitsu sends him to Japan with fake Vongola Rings as a decoy while the real ones go through separately. Squalo gets the better of him in their encounter, but Basil doesn't seem to hold it against anyone—he just moves on to helping Tsuna master the Dying Will Flame.
Later, CEDEF deploys him to the future as backup for the Vongola. His box weapon, Alfin, summons a dolphin he can telepathically command, which is about as useful and weird as it sounds.
Basil's most noticeable trait is his speech pattern. He insists on "thou," "thee," and "thy" instead of normal pronouns, and addresses Tsuna and the guardians with the formal "-dono" suffix. It's archaic and kind of awkward in everyday conversation, but he doesn't seem bothered by it.
