Samson Oak is a Pokémon researcher based in Alola who specializes in studying the region's unique variants. He's a cousin of the famous Professor Oak, and the two look so much alike that it's hard to miss the family connection.
In the anime, he showed up in "Alola to New Adventure!" as the principal of the Pokémon School. He's pretty much defined by his love of making puns based on Pokémon names—and he commits to the bit by acting them out with exaggerated expressions and poses, which is honestly kind of endearing even when the jokes don't quite land.
