Aika meets Kimito when he enrolls at Seikain Jogakkou, and she's immediately drawn to him as a potential solution to her social problems. She's a loner at the academy—struggling to fit in with the other girls—and desperately wants to be popular. She convinces Kimito to help her break into the social scene, and together they start the "commoner club," a calculated move to ride the wave of commoner-related hype that's swept through the school since his arrival.
Her biggest problem is that she's basically incapable of lying. She says whatever pops into her head without a filter, which has naturally pushed people away and kept her isolated. This brutal honesty also makes her incredibly gullible—Kimito takes advantage of this constantly, easily tricking her with whatever ridiculous story he comes up with.
