Joubin is Norisuke's eldest son. He is married to Mitsuba Higashikata, and has a child called Tsurugi.
He is an avid collector of beetles, and knows a large amount of beetle trivia. He engages in beetle-fighting recreationally. He is also a big fan of the poet Mitsuo Aida, and regularly quotes him in conversation. He fist-bumps anyone who notices his references.
