The King of Sand Land built his fortune on a pretty shady scheme: selling bottled water to his desperate subjects at inflated prices while secretly hoarding his own supply. He was also hiding the fact that he'd destroyed a water-creating machine that could've solved everyone's problems. When Rao started getting too close to the truth, the King saw him as a threat and moved to eliminate him. Once water finally made its way back to Sand Land, though, Rao forced the King to redistribute his ill-gotten wealth to the people—a fitting end to his reign of profiteering.
