Merlin (Caster) is a Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in Fate/Grand Order, originally debuting in the arcade version of the game. She comes from the Fate/Prototype timeline, where she served as Arthur Pendragon's court magus—making her the female counterpart to the male Merlin who serves Artoria.
She's best known for her perpetual smile and flower-like beauty, which is genuinely disarming; people around her tend to lose their sense of hostility just being near her. That said, her allure comes with a warning label—she has a reputation for leading men astray. Despite seeming wise and sage-like at first glance, there's something distinctly cold about her. She lacks any real tension or emotional investment, treating the human world with an almost detached curiosity.
Her philosophy is refreshingly blunt: she sees humans as temporary, fleeting things, and doesn't stress about outcomes. "All's well that ends well," she'll say, though she admits she'd rather things never actually end. She positions herself as an older sister figure watching over the Master's journey, but the "watching over" part feels more observational than protective.
What's interesting is how she views humanity itself. Even when acknowledging humanity's darkest aspects, she frames them hopefully—her take is that people don't need to be flawless, just to have "one clean spot, a single shining star" in them. She genuinely loves the human world, pranks, and boys, but keeps an emotional distance from all of it.
Unlike her male counterpart, she never abandoned her contentment or picked up his neuroses. She's fully aware she's an outsider to human society and doesn't pretend otherwise. She describes herself as basically a "navigator tool" humanity created, someone who'd rather observe than participate. Still, if things get boring, she'll meddle—pull some strings just to keep the journey interesting.
She has one sworn enemy: Beast VI/S.
