Kunzite
Height: 163cm
Age: 25-26
The strongest of the Shitennou and leader of the Dark Kingdom's Middle Eastern operations, Kunzite carries a shortsword and has the bearing of an Arabian nobleman. Creator Naoko Takeuchi has said she's particularly fond of him as a character, and it shows—he's written with more complexity than the typical villain henchman.
Manga
Kunzite starts as an advisor to the younger Zoisite, helping plan their energy-gathering operations. He's coldly pragmatic about his fellow Shitennou's deaths, showing little emotional investment when Jadeite, Nephrite, and Zoisite fall. That changes dramatically when Tuxedo Mask sacrifices himself to save Sailor Moon. The moment her memories return and the Ginzuishou appears, Kunzite's past awakens too—and with it, conflicting loyalties between Beryl and his old master Endymion.
His hesitation costs him. Instead of capturing the Princess as ordered, he brings Endymion back to the Dark Kingdom, where Beryl—furious at his wavering—implants a kunzite crystal shard in his forehead. He becomes a mindless weapon, attacking Sailor Moon in a rage until a Sailor Planet Attack defeats him. In the end, it's Kunzite who appears to Mamoru from beyond to reveal Queen Metaria's weakness, allowing him and Usagi to finally destroy her.
Anime
The anime deepens his character considerably. Kunzite and Zoisite are lovers, with Zoisite clinging to him for guidance and support. When Zoisite's recklessness gets him killed, Kunzite spirals into depression—though he never abandons his duty to Beryl. He's forced to work alongside Endymion after the prince is brainwashed, and he resents every second of it. What's interesting is that Kunzite gradually grows suspicious of Endymion, noticing how the prince repeatedly sabotages Dark Kingdom plans and protects the Senshi. He's not wrong to be skeptical, and Beryl eventually tasks him with surveillance.
At the final battle in the D Point, Kunzite's energy boomerang cuts down all the Senshi except Sailor Moon. When she deflects his last attack back at him, the projectile pierces him. He dies calling out to Zoisite, asking his lover to wait for him.
