Danny is a counselor with an obsessive, almost compulsive fascination with eyes—specifically blank, vacant ones like Ray's striking blue gaze. He was born without a right eye, which made him a target for bullying throughout childhood. The missing eye became a source of deep family conflict; his parents' marriage deteriorated over it until they eventually divorced, and his mother later took her own life. After witnessing her blank, lifeless stare in death, Danny developed a twisted attraction to that hollowed-out, emotionless look in people's eyes. He pursued work as a counselor partly as a way to hunt for eyes that could match what he found beautiful in his mother's final expression.
Before the events of the series, Danny worked as a counselor in a prison system, where he met Gray. When Gray offered him a position as a floor master, Danny saw it as an opportunity to get closer to the kinds of eyes he craved. He used his newfound authority to manipulate Ray into Gray's experiment and secured her placement as the floor master of B1—all so he could be near her and her mesmerizing blank stare. Ultimately, his obsession proved fatal; Gray kills him during his pursuit of Ray.
