Miu Furinji is a second-year student at Kenichi's school and the granddaughter of Hayato Furinji, who runs Ryozanpaku. Her father, Saiga Furinji, leads Yami's One Shadow Nine Fists—though Miu has been raised by her grandfather since at least age six and trained in martial arts from early childhood, accompanying him on peacekeeping missions.
Before transferring to Kouryou, she attended a well-known school where girls constantly resented her looks. To fit in, she tried toning down her appearance with a plain braid and glasses, a disguise she kept up into her second year before eventually dropping it. Despite being attractive, athletic, kind, and humble, Miu was almost completely friendless and socially awkward—partly because her upbringing left no time for normal friendships, and partly because she essentially works as a live-in maid. Kenichi and others have helped draw her out of her shell, and she's gradually built a real social circle through her genuine kindness.
She's obsessed with kittens and will turn hostile toward anyone who harms one—Kenichi learned this the hard way. As a fighter, she's legitimately skilled. Trained by her grandfather since childhood and hardened through dangerous experiences, she'll reflexively throw anyone who tries to sneak up on her. Her style relies heavily on kicks and acrobatics, and Kenichi has never landed a hit on her in sparring, though his refusal to strike her probably counts for something.
