Lydia is a sickly young woman who appears only in the 2003 anime. She's dealing with the "Fossil Disease" that's been spreading through her village when her fiancée Lujon uses a Red Stone from his ring to temporarily heal her. Unfortunately, Lujon had already fallen for someone else—Lust, the woman who gave him the ring in the first place—and he abandons Lydia at the altar to chase after her instead.
When the disease breaks out again, Lydia sets out to find Lujon, unaware he's left town for the same reason: searching for both Lust and another stone to keep treating the illness. She runs into the Elric brothers and Winry after they save her from some thugs, and she ends up traveling with them back to her village to search for him.
What they find there is grim. The disease has consumed nearly everyone, and Lujon is already dead—killed by Lust before the Fossil Disease finished its work on him. Lydia discovers his petrified body and, grief-stricken, dies in his arms, succumbing to the same disease that claimed the rest of her village.
