Ritsuko Takahashi teaches class 5-2 at Doumori Elementary and is widely considered the school's most beautiful unmarried woman. She's genuinely dedicated to her job—serious, responsible, everything you'd want in a teacher. But she's got a weakness: anything supernatural terrifies her. The school deals with youkai and spirits constantly, so naturally Nube loves to mess with her about it, which usually results in him getting smacked around.
This creates a funny dynamic. He's attracted to her, but his obsession with the supernatural and his relentless teasing keep her at arm's length. Early on, she's basically the last person who'd ever date him.
As the series goes on though, something shifts. Ritsuko gradually builds up the courage to actually face these supernatural threats instead of just freaking out. In doing so, she starts to see what Nube's really about—how he genuinely helps people, both students and others caught up in spiritual mess. Her respect for him grows, and with it, actual feelings.
Of course, this doesn't sit well with Yukime, the yuki-onna who's convinced she's Nube's true love. The tension between Ritsuko and Yukime becomes a major thread in the later manga, pulling Nube in different directions. He's stuck figuring out whether to follow his heart or settle down with someone he can actually build a life with—and those two things aren't necessarily the same person.
