Xu Yang is best known for being stuck in the Qi Refining stage for an absurdly long time—we're talking 100,000 years. After spending 10,000 of those years in seclusion, he eventually emerged to find his sect in serious decline. The Tianlan Sect's downfall traces back to its involvement in wiping out seven ancient sects, an event that basically haunted its reputation afterward.
His master, Jue Tiantong, forged his signature weapon, the Life-Protecting Sword, using meteorite iron pulled from the void. Beyond that, Xu Yang keeps a couple of spirit beasts around: Happy and Cloud Beast are his notable companions.
On the personal side, he's got disciples including Pu Linger and Ling Qingshu. His sect siblings are Huo Bufan (senior brother) and Chao Feng (senior sister).
