Fritz Rumey
Fritz Rumey was a Grossflugzeugkreuzer (large aviation cruiser) of the A Type II Class.
The ship's defining feature was her hybrid design philosophy: she was built to achieve air superiority while packing enough conventional firepower to stand her ground independently. The idea was that even if surrounded or stripped of air support, she could fight her way out. At the time, this concept seemed overly ambitious—combining those capabilities into a single hull pushed the boundaries of what naval architects thought possible. Yet her actual construction and operation proved the theory could work, at least in principle.
