Roka was the lead knight of Carl and served as one of Avan's most trusted companions in the fight against Hadlar. He and Leira had a child together: Maam. He was already dead by the time Dai set out on his adventure.
The prequel manga fills in the details of his death—Roka fell during the final confrontation at Hadlar's Underground Palace, ultimately killed by the lingering effects of a cursed attack from Kigiro. Despite the grim end, he died content, having stayed loyal to his best friend Avan right to the bitter end and knowing he'd done what he set out to do.
