Ai got hooked on shogi pretty much by accident. Her family runs a hot spring, and a professional match happened to be held there—it was Yaichi's title defense for the Ryuuou position. Watching that match flipped a switch for her, and she went from casual observer to genuinely passionate about the game. Now she's serious about improving, though as a grade-schooler she's still figuring out how to balance everything.
