Kanabun runs the Kanabun Gang, and he's basically a opportunist looking for the next big score. After he and his crew watch Katazu defeat Tsukado in a fight—one that ends with Katazu killing Tsukado's distant relative Shikazo—Kanabun spots something valuable: Katazu's got serious hidden swordsman skills. That's money in the bank for him.
So the next day, he drags Katazu back to Tsukado, thinking he can milk another fight out of them and make a profit off it. When Katazu drops the bombshell that he didn't actually kill Shikazo and the fight ends, Kanabun tries forcing them to go another round. That doesn't go well. Tsukado, Katazu, Team 7, and Mr. Ostrich team up and chase Kanabun's entire gang out of town. As they're leaving, Kanabun's throwing threats around about how they'll all regret it, but it's pretty clear he and his crew just got played.
