Mai Fukuyama stands out among the younger idols for being surprisingly mature and responsible. Even at ten, she's the kind of kid teachers trust with actual responsibility—her school regularly has her lead class greetings and handle rep duties without hesitation.
Before turning to idol work, Mai was a child actress. Her mom encouraged her to make the jump into entertainment, hoping she'd explore different paths and figure out what stuck with her. The Producer apparently reminds her of her mother in that way, always pushing her to try new things.
She's close friends with Kaoru Ryuzaki and Chika Yokoyama from school. The three of them pop up together in the Cinderella Girls skits, and Mai's discovered she really likes wearing pigtails.
