Shuten Douji
True Name: Shuten Douji (酒呑童子)
One of Japan's Three Great Monsters, Shuten is classified as an anti-hero—a reputation she's earned through her anecdotes and the trail she's left behind.
Back in the Heian Era, she ruled Mount Ooe as a demon king, commanding hordes of fearsome creatures under her control. Her exact origins are murky. Some accounts claim she was born on Mount Ibuki to Yamata-no-Orochi and a human woman; others insist she was a divine gift from the dragon god Kuzuryuu himself. Regardless, she's definitely the child of a dragon god—something she has in common with Sakata Kintoki, which apparently matters more to her than you'd think.
These days, Shuten lives however she wants, answering to no one. She's picked up a taste for collecting antiques and rare artifacts, and she's particularly obsessed with a certain red dragon's ulna bone embedded in Kintoki's arm—she finds it fascinating. Her collecting habits reveal her priorities: she cares about rarity and visual elegance above all else. That's exactly why she and Gilgamesh butt heads. Where the King of Heroes values performance and historical significance, Shuten couldn't care less about either. They're fundamentally incompatible.
