A cunning bandit leader who specializes in concealed blades and explosives. Jackal's whole philosophy comes down to one rule: "If you want to survive in this age, avoid picking fights with people stronger than you." He's smarter and more cautious than most outlaws, which is why he's immediately suspicious of Kenshiro's actual strength and prefers dirty tricks to direct confrontation.
We first meet him running a bar, casually watching his thugs get demolished by Kenshiro. When he overhears Taki desperately asking for help saving his adoptive mother Toyo's village—which happens to have a working well—Jackal sees opportunity. But instead of rushing in, he decides to wait and watch from a distance, figuring he'll raid the place once Kenshiro moves on. His impatient crew attacks early anyway and gets slaughtered, which at least tips Kenshiro off that something worse is coming.
After Kenshiro leaves with Bat and Rin (and after digging a new well as thanks), Jackal finally makes his move with his full gang. Things immediately go wrong when Toyo shoots at him—the near miss enrages him so much that he stabs her. On the suggestion of his lieutenant Fox, he escalates to threatening to hang the orphans one by one. Kenshiro doesn't take the bait; he comes back to defend the village, forcing Jackal to retreat. But as he leaves, Jackal rigs several children with dynamite as a parting gift, hoping to take Kenshiro down with them. Toyo dies shielding one of the kids from the blast.
Now hunted by a furious, disgusted Kenshiro, Jackal holes up in Villainy Prison and tricks the monster Devil Rebirth into thinking they're brothers—gaining himself a powerful (if unstable) ally. It doesn't matter much. Kenshiro beats Devil anyway, and in his dying moments, Devil accidentally crushes Jackal beneath his own hand. They both get blown to pieces by Jackal's own dynamite.
