Laios is the party's leader and genuinely one of their strongest fighters, though most people don't seem to realize it. He's got an unusual approach to combat—he studies monsters through cooking them, then uses that knowledge to figure out how to fight them. He also knows their mythology and biology cold, which came in handy during the fight with the Lunatic Magician and the dragons. Most of the time he's calm and composed, but mention monsters and he completely transforms: he'll talk a mile a minute, his hands are everywhere, his face is animated—basically the complete opposite of his usual self. It's the kind of thing that gets on people's nerves pretty quickly.
The problem is, Laios doesn't do well outside the dungeon. He's intelligent and talented when monsters are involved, but everywhere else he fumbles. He struggles to read people, misses social cues, and has a tendency to be bluntly honest in ways that start arguments.
What's frustrating for him is that despite his good intentions and genuine friendliness toward everyone around him, most people are uncomfortable with him. They see something unsettling in him—like he's got the potential to go "evil" somehow—just because they don't understand him. But he never stops being friendly or accepting in return. He makes friends easily, even with orcs and other groups, and honestly doesn't seem to see much difference between any of them. It's partly because he's indifferent to most living things except monsters—race just doesn't factor into his thinking.
His obsession with monsters never makes him reckless, though. He's fully aware they're dangerous. If anything, his reverence for them makes him more cautious.
As for food: he loves dairy, especially cheesecake. Squid and octopus? Can't stand them.
