Souta Tawara is a 30-year-old web designer living in Tokyo who'd written off his hometown of Kagawa Prefecture years ago—sick of his family's udon restaurant and convinced the whole thing was beneath him. When he finally heads back to sort out his old house and the shuttered restaurant, he stumbles across something completely unexpected: a small child asleep in one of the massive cooking cauldrons.
The discovery kicks off a chain of events that changes everything. Souta learns the kid has a secret, and the two form an unlikely bond. He names the child Poko and makes the decision to move back to Kagawa permanently to be with them, udon restaurant and all.
