Aoi is a self-proclaimed 16-year-old who mysteriously crosses paths with Otoo while he's searching for his missing wife. She ends up tagging along back to Wagnaria, where she lands a job as a waitress and crashes in the restaurant's attic. On paper, she's confident and full of herself, but on the job? Not so much. She's more of a headache than a help, constantly getting called out by her coworkers—Souta especially loves to rag on her. As a trainee, she's stuck at the bottom of the pecking order, and she's definitely not shy about complaining about it.
Souta's endless criticism gets under her skin, though she does jot down some of his feedback when she's not just venting her frustrations into her notebook. The thing is, Aoi's got this deep longing to be part of a real family. She gravitates toward Otoo, viewing him as the father figure she wants, and she's even gone ahead and applied to be officially adopted by him. Her comfort food of choice is natto.
