Hikari started doing judo as a kid and was pretty serious about it through high school. Then juvenile glaucoma hit, and she lost nearly all her vision—which understandably sent her into a rough patch. Her family eventually pointed her toward a blind judo player, and that connection changed everything. She trained under Kobayashi Sensei, who taught her how to do judo as a visually impaired athlete and instilled in her the drive to make it to the Paralympics. She's known for her shoulder throw technique.
