Marco's the kind of guy who thrives on power and isn't shy about flaunting it. He built his whole reputation as Los Volmos' worst bully, and he's made a career out of pushing people around. When he and his Pyrus Cyndeous strong-armed the Rowdy Reds out of their park in Costero Canyada, it caught Max's attention—though mostly because Marco looked unstoppable. Max ended up becoming his personal servant while Marco basically turned the place into a monument to himself, complete with a stage and statues. He called it his "kingdom" and used Cyndeous to keep anyone from challenging him.
The thing is, Marco manipulated Cyndeous by playing on his ignorance about Earth, convincing him that bullying and cruelty were just normal. It worked for a while.
But it fell apart when Marco got cocky. After trapping Trox and Gorthion and having Cyndeous strike them down, he ordered his Bakugan to attack the Awesome Ones and Rowdy Reds. That crossed a line for Cyndeous, who valued doing the right thing. He lost it, attacking randomly until one blast headed straight for Marco and Max—and Drago took the hit protecting them. Marco didn't even acknowledge the sacrifice. Instead, he just kept yelling at Cyndeous to keep attacking.
That's when Cyndeous had enough. He flat-out told Marco he wasn't taking orders from a coward anymore. Marco lost it, hurling insults, but the damage was done. Dan, recognizing his own worst impulses reflected in Marco, pushed him over and ended things. By that night, Cyndeous walked.
