Asako was Hikiko's mother and Aiko's grandmother. Thanks to her intervention, Kanetsugu allowed Hikiko and Aiko to live at Mejiro Villa. After she died, it became apparent how much her support kept the family together, as Hikiko began breaking down more frequently and beating Aiko.
