Zirconia is an ugly, insectlike old woman with lavender skin who serves as Queen Nehellenia's second-in-command. She controls both the Amazoness Quartet and the Amazon Trio, leading the Dead Moon Circus's operations on Earth. Her name comes from zirconia, the mineral form of zirconium dioxide. She first appears in Episode 128 of the anime and Act 34 of the manga.
In the anime, Zirconia essentially looks like an aged version of Nehellenia herself—she's the physical manifestation of the queen's nightmares, created specifically to hunt down Pegasus and execute Nehellenia's revenge. She directs the Amazon Trio to find people with beautiful dreams, since Pegasus is supposedly hiding in someone's Dream Mirror. Using Zircon, a flying eyeball mounted on her staff, she gathers intel on promising targets and hands them over to the Trio. When they prove incompetent, she loses patience and brings in the Amazoness Quartet to finish the job instead.
The manga portrays her differently. The Amazoness Quartet calls her baa-san (grandmother), and she acts as a go-between for them and Nehellenia. Like all Dead Moon members, she hates light and only feels safe in darkness. She constantly flatters Nehellenia through their mirror conversations, though her true motivations remain murky. What's clear is that she's obsessed with making Nehellenia's plans actually work. Her core strategy is establishing the circus as a foothold on Earth, then gradually expanding Dead Moon's control. She warns the Quartet to be careful with the Senshi and promises she won't accept failure—to conquer Earth, she insists, they need to destroy the Senshi by flooding their minds with nightmares.
