He's best known for walking away from that royal existence, pursuing enlightenment, and eventually transcending to become a Nyorai—basically achieving Buddha status. Japanese followers often call him "oshaka-sama" out of affection. These days, he leads the Buddhas in their ongoing fight against human vices and works to defend humanity itself.
