Amemiya (usually called Amemiya-san) is a student at Mae Prefectural High School. Her life isn't exactly typical, though what she's passionate about might seem pretty ordinary to most people—specific sounds, coffee au lait, the smell of fresh shoes. She knows this about herself and doesn't apologize for it. She just files these things away as "stuff I like" and moves on, which gives her a weirdly hedonistic lifestyle built on small pleasures that other people would probably overlook.
Since she lives so much in the moment, thinking about the future doesn't come naturally to her. That said, there's something oddly comforting about her simple worldview. She finds motivation in her older sister and by collecting more things she loves. That's pretty much her approach to life.
