Frenci is the daughter of the Southern Night-Gaunts' leader. She was engaged to Xylo before he became a penal hero—a status change he insists makes marriage impossible. Frenci, however, refuses to accept this and won't break the engagement, no matter what Xylo says.
Despite her blank, mask-like face, she's got a sharp tongue. This actually fits her culture pretty well. Among the Night-Gaunts, keeping your expression still is the norm, and showing emotion through your face is considered rude. The higher your social standing, the more strictly you're expected to control it. Frenci's position as the leader's daughter means she's held to those standards pretty rigidly—which makes her verbal sharpness all the more notable as her outlet.
