Ryo starts out seeming like your typical tough loner—rude and distant, keeping people at arm's length. But Saki figures out pretty quickly that he's just bad at expressing himself. Once he gets trapped in the alternate world, though, his whole act falls apart. He's the most freaked out by what's happening, can't accept that any of it is real, and it becomes clear that beneath the tough-guy exterior, he's actually a coward. He's even scared of his own Digimon partner Kunemon and finds the whole Larva Digimon thing genuinely disgusting.
