Arata Shiunji is the protagonist of The Shiunji Family Children series. He's a second-year high school student and one of the third-oldest siblings—though he and his "twin sister" Oka are technically the same age.
Physically, Arata's pretty striking: he's got short, slightly spiked dark brown hair with the back shaved, and he's built solid from working out. He's actually the tallest of all the Shiunji kids. His narrow eyes and thick, downward-slanting eyebrows give him an intense, almost aggressive look—which is funny because he gets flustered embarrassingly easily.
As the eldest son, Arata takes his role in the family seriously, maybe too seriously. He's protective and genuinely cares about his siblings, though he feels the weight of being heir to the Shiunji fortune. He's thoughtful about what he says and does, but people constantly misread his intentions anyway. Weirdly, he tends to ask his younger brother Shion for advice rather than the other way around. And whenever any of his sisters come on to him—whether they're joking or not—he shuts it down fast, making it clear that family is family, blood relation or not.
Outside the home drama, Arata's got his own problem: he's crushing hard on Rara Yakoyama, who's already in a relationship. Too nervous to make a move before, he's now paralyzed wondering if he should even try. The thing is, she probably doesn't even know he exists—he literally hides whenever he sees her and can't bring himself to send a friend request.
