A biologist and mycologist who works in a specialized lab, he's genuinely obsessed with mushrooms—knows the field inside and out. He's also a huge fan of Hotaru's work, which probably says something about his taste. When he meets the mushroom dog, he's immediately smitten, and it doesn't take long for those feelings to shift toward Hotaru themselves. He ends up confessing his feelings, which is probably the most direct thing he does in the whole story.
