Ootsuki-sensei runs class 5-1 at Doumori Elementary with a hot-headed attitude and a scientific twist on the supernatural. Like Nube, he's both a teacher and an exorcist, but that's where the similarities end—Ootsuki is convinced that every strange phenomenon plaguing the school is just plasma, not spiritual energy. This fundamental disagreement keeps him and Nube constantly butting heads, and their students naturally take sides based on whoever's in their corner. Armed with homemade gadgets and scientific research methods that wouldn't feel out of place in Ghostbusters, Ootsuki tackles the school's various threats with hard data and invention rather than spiritual power. He shows up fairly prominently in the early chapters, but gradually fades into the background as the manga progresses, becoming more of a recurring presence than a central figure.
In the 2025 remake, the character was rebranded as Terakawa-sensei and given a different look—he no longer wears glasses.
