Gakuto is tall and lanky—second only to Reiji among the guys—with black hair, black eyes, and the distinction of being the only boy in the group who wears glasses. His long hair is pretty much his signature look. He starts out as the leanest of the five, but puts on muscle during their time in the Prison Block, eventually becoming lean and tall with a more normal build.
Smart and calculating, Gakuto's the mastermind behind most of the group's escape plans, often working alongside Kiyoshi. His schemes have saved them from expulsion more than once. He's obsessed with the Three Kingdoms and genuinely is the sharpest of the bunch—just not when it comes to actual schoolwork. But when his carefully laid plans start falling apart and he realizes there's nothing left to do, he can spiral hard, getting so stressed that he loses it completely and starts making reckless, stupid decisions.
Personality-wise, he's one of the horniest guys in the group and leans pretty hard into otaku culture. He'll spend hours in the school library hunting down rare collector figurines when he's not locked up. His speech is weirdly formal and old-fashioned, constantly throwing in "indeed" and calling himself "yours truly" while referring to his friends with the honorific "-dono." Despite all that, he's genuinely one of the most dependable people in the series—he'll sacrifice pretty much anything, including his precious long hair, to keep his friends safe.
