In the Tenchi OVA continuity, Kiyone Masaki is Tenchi and Tennyo's mother. She's the daughter of Katsuhito and Airi Masaki, and sister to Minaho Masaki.
Kiyone shows up in various flashbacks throughout the first two OVA series, though her name never actually gets mentioned during that time. Tenchi remembers her as sweet and gentle, but she was actually kind of a troublemaker—the type who'd deliberately make things harder than they needed to be just for laughs. Her go-to move was stuff like climbing an entire mountain to gather herbs for a cold remedy when there was literally a meadow full of the same herbs right at the base.
