Ren Amaki is the Sword Hero, one of the four holy heroes summoned to Melromarc.
He comes from an alternate Japan—one far more technologically advanced than the world he's been transported to. Back home, modern gaming exists entirely in VRMMO format. One day after school, Ren got caught up in a murder case that was making headlines in his town. He's mentioned saving his best friend and the criminal being arrested, though he doesn't elaborate much. When discussing it, he instinctively rubs his side, leading people to suspect he was stabbed during the incident and may have even died from blood loss before being transported.
When he woke up in this new world, it felt familiar—it reminded him of Brave Star Online, the VRMMO he'd been playing back home.
Ren's got a cool-guy persona he takes seriously, cultivating an image of himself as a loner. He runs his party more like a guild, preferring to work solo unless the hunt demands backup.
