Arisugawa Nino comes across as pretty spacey most of the time, but don't let that fool you—she's genuinely passionate about singing.
She and her childhood friend Momo used to sing together constantly, mainly to block out their parents fighting at home. When Momo suddenly disappeared, though, something broke in Nino. She stopped singing altogether and developed this uncontrollable urge to shout instead. It got bad enough that she started wearing a surgical mask just to keep herself in check.
Meeting a boy named Yuzu changed things for her. He gave her a reason to believe in her voice again. And even after he left, Nino held onto that—she started imagining that if she kept singing, maybe it could bring both Momo and Yuzu back to her someday.
