A pteranodon-like fighter best known for his match against Goku at the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, where he ultimately forfeited. Despite his obvious strength and size, Goku managed to counter him effectively. The anime expanded his character considerably—there's a memorable scene where he gets into a bar fight after some drunk guys mock him for ordering milk, and he thoroughly beats them down. He goes by "Kujirada" as his preferred introduction.
Later, during the Piccolo Daimao saga, Giran becomes a target. Piccolo orders Tambourine to eliminate all former tournament competitors, and Giran doesn't stand a chance against him. He's killed quickly, but gets brought back when the Dragon Balls are used to restore everyone at the saga's end.
